Enoc Group Hosts the First Joint Retail Fuel Industry Safety Conference
ENOC Group recently hosted the first Retail Fuel Industry Safety Conference, to discuss the best industry safety practices and potential challenges within fuel retail operations.
The event was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Energy. The conference was also attended key strategic partners and federal authorities including Representatives from the Ministry of Energy (MoE), Dubai Civil Defence (DCD), Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA), ASEG Co., Emarat & ADNOC as well as officials from ENOC Group.
“Hosting an event to focus on safety in the fuel retail offers a platform for key industry experts and representatives from government entities in the UAE to discuss recent trends, and shed light on best practices in the sector. We are confident that this conference will not only ingrain principles of safety and sustainability, but will contribute to elevating best practices to ensure the safety and happiness of people in the UAE.” said H.E. Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Energy.
The conference addressed key issues facing EHS and safety at service stations; including incidents such as vehicle fires, nozzles detachment incidents. Industry experts also shed light on the importance of enforcing no smoking policies, the rise of retail automation and disruptive technologies such as RFID payment systems and digitisation and their impact on safety.
His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC, said: “Adapting health, environment and safety best practices within our fuel network is imperative, and will continue to remain an integral component in the success of our operations. We hope that this inaugural conference creates a platform to engage with industry experts to shed light on current trends in fuel retail and address challenges to eliminate accidents or potential hazards.”
Committed to enhance EHS best practices and improving fire emergency response, ENOC Group places a high emphasis on training its retail staff who work across its service station network. The Group works closely with Dubai Civil Defense in formulating various training modules for supervisors (emergency responders), forecourt and non-forecourt site staff (initial fire responders) and for fire wardens at staff accommodations.
In 2017 a total of 1,176 of ENOC’s staff were trained by the Group’s fire specialist team.
