Ernst & Young appoints Sameer Abdi as Transactions Leader in Qatar

Ernst & Young has announced the appointment of Sameer Abdi to lead its Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) practice in Qatar. Sameer was previously Ernst & Young’s Global Leader of the Islamic Financial Services Group (IFSG) and the MENA Financial Services Industry Leader for Advisory Services.

Firas Qoussous, Office Managing Partner of Ernst & Young Qatar, congratulating Sameer Abdi, said: “I am confident that Sameer will be able to further strengthen our TAS practice. Sameer has over 14 years experience in mergers, acquisitions and capital market transactions in Europe, the Far East and MENA. This includes raising Tier 1 and Tier 2 capital for financial institutions; acquisitions and disposals by Middle Eastern family offices; and Islamic capital market and project finance deals in the GCC. He has also assisted in structuring securitization vehicles for residential and commercial mortgages in the GCC and Europe. He is an associate of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London.
