The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) took part in the 21st edition of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2019), showcasing its initiatives and projects to meet demands for water and energy in the Northern Emirates, as well as its plans for promoting clean and renewable energy in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
The Authority is taking part in Green Week in Dubai, which includes WETEX and the Dubai Solar Show, and coincides with the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) and the International Desalination Association (IDA) World Congress.
“The Federal Electricity and Water Authority is dedicated to driving the transition towards clean and renewable energy in an effort to achieve the UAE’s objectives to promote development and environmental sustainability,” said FEWA’s Director General Mohammed Mohammed Saleh. “With these objectives in mind, we’ve worked to launch several projects and strategies in the Northern Emirates that rely entirely on green technologies, such as solar energy, and reverse osmosis for water desalination.”
“We, at FEWA, consider our leadership’s clear directives to transition towards clean energy to be an action plan, in accordance with which we have launched several important projects,” Saleh added, stressing the Authority’s commitment to supporting any effort in that direction, and implementing strategies that seek to achieve this goal, and ensure a sustainable present and a green future for citizens and residents.
FEWA’s pavilion at WETEX will occupy stand number A83 in Hall 8 of the Dubai International Convention Centre under the slogan ‘Towards a New Energy Era’. It showcases 3D models of electricity and water projects in the Northern Emirates, which seek to minimise the carbon footprint and increase reliance on new and renewable energy sources.
Visitors to the Authority’s stand can take part in interactive activities to explore ways to conserve resources, and reduce energy and water consumption. They can also explore the Interactive Wall Project, and the initiative to establish 50 green charger stations for electric vehicles in the northern regions, which include medium-speed chargers in certain government buildings, malls, and hospitals, and fast chargers on highways and at gas stations.
The Federal Electricity and Water Authority’s vision and mission go beyond providing electricity and water services to raising the standard of living, achieving sustainable growth, developing infrastructure. FEWA is working to meet the growing needs in the areas under its jurisdiction and rationalising the consumption of electricity and water.
