ALBAWABA - In a new sweepstakes competition, the Icelandic airline is offering tickets to the next total solar eclipse set to occur in 2196 - in 170 years.
Alongside the long-term eclipse tickets, the country is offering a unique opportunity to visit it in September. A spokesperson said:
"Travel has never been more accessible, but our research shows once-in-a-lifetime experiences still sit firmly on people’s bucket lists and too many never get ticked off, leaving them with regrets about the things they didn't do.
"We wanted to turn that idea on its head and encourage people to stop putting unforgettable experiences off and go live them.
"And if you’re going to think big, why not think really big? That's why we're giving someone the chance to experience the next total solar eclipse visible from Iceland, even though it won't happen for another 170 years."
According to a study carried out by One Poll, a lack of money and security was the main cause stopping people from traveling –counting 44 percent of all cases, followed by family responsibilities at 22 percent, and ‘having other priorities’ was third at 22 percent, with the remaining 31 percent were ‘always waiting for the right time’.
The Iceland airline spokesperson added: "Travel gives us the chance to experience the world as it really is, unfiltered and unforgettable. This week's eclipse is the perfect reminder to start making those plans. Iceland is waiting."
