FGB, one of the leading banks in the UAE, has been named ‘Bank of the Year’ at the 2015 Arabian Business Achievement Awards, which recently took place at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai and was attended by over 400 VIPS and business leaders. FGB received the award in recognition of the bank’s performance throughout the past year and its efforts to support small businesses in the UAE.

The Arabian Business Achievement Awards is one of the most prestigious business events in the region. The awards are judged by an independent panel and recognize, outstanding success, innovation and ethics amongst businesses and individuals in the UAE. This year the awards were presented to winners by HE Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State.

André Sayegh, CEO of FGB, said: “We’re very proud to have received the 2015 Bank of the Year award, in recognition of our achievements. Throughout the past 12 months, we have continued to improve our product and service offering, diversify our sources of revenue and deliver consistent growth. FGB is committed to giving UAE SMEs the support they need to grow and develop and we will continue to help young businesses establish themselves and meet their goals.”

This year FGB became the first bank in the country to offer a one-stop financing solution to UAE new business. The bank’s ‘Startup Proposition’ offers a range of financial solutions, from business current accounts and credit cards to start-up loans, overdrafts and trade/working capital facilities. The start-up package is designed to support new businesses in the initial stages of their business venture and cater to their needs at every step.

Edward Attwood, Group Editor, ITP Executive Publishing, said: “The Bank of the Year Award is always one of the toughest categories to adjudicate given the strength and experience of the banking industry in the Gulf and across the Middle East. This year our judges highlighted FGB’s focus on lending to small and medium-sized businesses, whose development will play a hugely important role in the growth of the UAE, as the main reason behind the bank’s award.”

Over the past decade, the Arabian Business Achievement Awards have been attended by a wide range of high profile guests, including HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, along with former UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair, HM King Abdullah II of Jordan, HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud and HRH King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
