Georgetown Honors 207 Students for Academic Excellence at Dean’s Honors Reception at QF

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q), a QF partner, held its annual Dean’s Honors Reception on their Education City campus to recognize the outstanding achievements of 207 students who have excelled academically during the previous two semesters. The dedicated students were presented with certificates to honor their accomplishments in the presence of the faculty and staff who supported their journey to academic success.
Academic Honors is a recognition of students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their studies and coursework. At this year’s event, 124 students received First Honors for earning a semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.9 or higher, while 83 students were awarded Second Honors for achieving a GPA between 3.7 and 3.89.
At the reception, Dr. Safwan Masri, Dean of Georgetown University in Qatar, expressed his gratitude to the faculty and staff who provide the holistic learning environment students need to thrive, and admiration for students who made the most of the university’s resources.
“We are so proud of our students, who have achieved this academic excellence because they strive for excellence in everything they do, and do so with compassion, respect, honesty, and integrity.” His remarks to students concluded with encouragement to continue striving for excellence and pushing themselves to achieve even more in their academic pursuits and personal development.
Offering the same renowned Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) degree as Georgetown University in Washington, DC, GU-Q provides students with a deep understanding of global issues through four majors: International Economics, International Politics, Culture and Politics, and International History. Students can also deepen their studies through a variety of minors and certificate programs.
