GKSD Founder & Chairman, Kamel Ghribi, leads Italian delegation to Kenya’s Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Kenya International Mental Wellness Hospital with HE President Kenyatta

GKSD founder and Chairman, Kamel Ghribi, led the Italian delegation at the ground breaking ceremony hosted by Kenya’s State House and Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Mutahi Kagwe. President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kenya International Mental Wellness Hospital in Ngong, Kajiado. Other distinguished guests included Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio and Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku.
The healthcare facility, designed by GKSD Engineering, will employ 1,100 doctors to serve an inpatient capacity of 600 patients with a walk-in capacity of 1000 patients daily.
It will incorporate a wellness and sports center as well as a University center and will employ 1100 doctors and other medical staff.
Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta said at the event, “This is something which has been long overdue. This facility will help in tackling the growing cases of mental health patients. Mental health is becoming one of the biggest health challenges in the country and having a center helping in tackling the problem will be great”.
Kamel Ghribi stated “We are committed to building quality health infrastructure and services. As a leading healthcare organization in Europe, we will ensure this facility becomes a premier international neuropsychiatric and wellness centre in Africa and beyond,” Mr Ghribi assured.
President Kenyatta thanked Minister Luigi Di Maio, Chairman Kamel Ghribi of GKSD Investment holding and Mr. Paolo Rotelli , Vice President GKSD and Gruppo San Donato. GKSD and Gruppo San Donato (GSD) will support the project by contributing to the engineering and design works, helping with technical and medical training and technical support to ensure that the developed infrastructure is able to deliver high standards of medical care. Mr. Ghribi said, “It makes me very proud to see an Italian company in Africa to help improve lives, share medical know-how and export technical expertise that will benefit Kenya and the Africa region”. GKSD Chairman further said, “African development can be highly successful through a partnership model”.
GKSD recently celebrated the start of the academic year at famous university hospital San Raffaele in Milan; whose new emergency wing, the “Iceberg” was entirely project managed by the GKSD Construction division.
