Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University concludes learner and faculty orientation for 2011-12 academic year

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU), a leader in the field of e-Learning and quality management in the Arab World, has recently concluded the orientation for new learners of its postgraduate and undergraduate programs as well as the annual gathering and orientation of full-time and associate faculties. The activities were held at the start of the autumn term of the 2011-12 academic year to familiarize learners and faculty members with the university’s e-Learning environment, its physical and virtual facilities, and the institutional policies and guidelines pertinent to learners and faculties. 

The learner orientation included an academic overview of HBMeU, the Learners Services and Academic Advising. 

The Deans of the e-School of Health & Environmental Studies, e-School of Business & Quality Management, and e-School of e- Education were also present to provide a brief on their respective schools. 

A tour of the University was also conducted to showcase the various educational facilities offered by the university. 

The faculty gathering and orientation featured presentations by university officials on “Enabling Excellence in Teaching and Learning: The New Role of Faculty in Online Education”, “e-Learning at HBMeU”, “HBMeU Expectations: Policies and Practices” and “HBMeU Faculty Panel Discussion: Online Teaching and Learning”. The orientation also included a detailed explanation about the ‘Learning and Academic Development Division’ portal which is a central space for all recent formal communications, important dates and announcements, projects and other activities for all faculty members and administrators. A panel discussion and Q&A session featuring senior faculty members concluded the event. 

Prof. Nabil Baydoun, Learners & Enterprise Development, and Assistant Chancellor at HBMeU, said: “The orientation is an important activity that allows us to provide an overview of our objectives for the school year and to ensure a productive start of the semester. It is also a great opportunity to reinforce Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University’s commitment to quality and excellence in education and our focus on innovative learning strategies and scientific research to enhance the life-long pursuit of greater knowledge. Through these activities, it is also our aim to encourage learners and faculty members to exercise their creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness, which will be crucial in achieving their goals during their term in the university.”
