HBMeU’s Dean of School of e-Education receives honorary doctorate degree from University of Sherbrooke in Canada

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU), a leader in the field of e-Learning and quality management in the Arab World, has announced that Prof. Alain Senteni, Dean of the School of e-Education, has recently been awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree in Education by the University of Sherbrooke, Canada. Prof. Senteni has been recognized for his outstanding contribution to the development of knowledge in his field of ​​expertise. 

The University of Sherbrooke reserves the distinctive award to outstanding personalities whose academic track record demonstrates that they have reached the highest levels of their discipline. The award has accordingly reaffirmed the status of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University as a premier academic institution with some of the most highly acclaimed and widely experienced educators in the region. 

Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of HBMeU, said: “We are pleased with this new distinction that has been awarded to Prof. Alain Senteni. As dean of HBMeU’s School of e-Education, Prof. Senteni has worked very hard to continuously improve the quality of our academic programs and develop innovative ways to promote e-learning in the society. This new milestone is a reflection of our continuing thrust to employ only the best and the most competent academic staff for the university.” 

Prof. Senteni, who holds as PhD in Computer Science, a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, joined HBMeU in 2008 as Associate with the mission to develop the university’s e-Education program. The following year he was appointed as Dean of HBMeU’s School of e-Education. 

Prof. Senteni was the initiator and the program chair of the International Conference on Open and Online Learning (ICOOL), while he is also a member of the executive board of the IEEE Learning Technologies Task Force (IEEE-LTTF). He was a Faculty of Education of the University of Montreal as a professor in didactics of science and technology, and later became the first appointed Director of the Virtual Centre for Innovative Learning Technologies (VCILT) and also the Chairman of the Lifelong Learning Cluster (LLC) of the University of Mauritius. 

HBMeU is the first e-learning institute in the Arab World that was established with the vision to develop a new learning process through the implementation of learning practices characterised by flexibility, quality and diversity to strengthen self-leadership among learners and prepare them socially and academically for a future career through integration in the job market. HBMeU’s philosophy is based on vital methods that have been developed through extensive research and development by specialists from all over the world.
