HBMeU starts accepting nominations for ‘Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Award’

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU) has announced that it is now accepting nominations for the "Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Award 2012" and "Kano Excellence Leaders Medal 2012". The deadline for application is on November 30, 2011. The winners of both awards will be honoured during the Virtual Executive Club special ceremony, one of the high-profile events taking place during the Annual Congress 2012, which will be held from January 30 to February 2, 2012, in Dubai.
The two awards are being organized by the e-TQM Institute at HBMeU, whose mission is to guide and support organizations and professionals in the public and private sectors across the Arab World with implementing quality management and e-learning through specialized consultancy services, capacity building programs, and cutting-edge knowledge transfer products.
The Institute also manages the Virtual Executive Club (VEC), which specializes in providing various activities and programs for members to advance their personal and professional skills. The Institute organizes two annual awards sponsored by two of the world’s most prominent masters of leadership and quality: "Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Award" and "Kano Medal: Excellence Catalyst".
The Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Award is established in honor of Dr. Armand Val Feigenbaum, President and CEO of General Systems Company, whose considerable experience in the field of leadership and management has led to the design, installation and implementation of proprietary management operating systems. The Feigenbaum Excellence Award comprises four leadership categories: Rising Stars, Accomplished Leaders, Women Leaders and Exceptional Leaders. The award is dedicated to honor men and women in the Arab World for their exemplary leadership in driving their organizations to fulfill their role in business and society.
The Kano Medal is awarded in honor of the incessant work of Professor Noriaki Kano in the fields of quality and scientific research and to recognize his unique and significant contribution in enabling quality to grow in both the public and private sectors worldwide. The medal encourages managers and heads of quality departments in establishments around the world to adhere to accepted standards of quality and excellence and elevate organizational performance to higher levels.
Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of HBMeU, has underlined the importance of the two awards, which are managed by eTQM Institute at HBMeU and bear the names of two global leaders in the fields of quality sciences and leadership. He further pointed out that the awards reaffirm the scientific and academic leadership of the University, while realizing the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of the University, to promote excellence among individuals, corporations and the entire community.
"The launch of these two annual awards is in line with the vision we share with VEC, which is to promote a culture of quality and e-learning in the Arab world and to encourage personal and professional development and attainment of leadership and corporate excellence. Dr. Al Awar also explained that the "Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Award" is being launched at an opportune time when there is a much greater need to adopt best practices concerning exemplary leadership to boost corporate competitiveness and achieve sustainable growth. On the other hand, Dr. Al Awar stated that the "Kano Medal for Excellence Catalysts" is a driving force to encourage experts in the field of quality management to pursue lifelong learning and further develop more scientific and intellectual qualifications in quality and excellence. It will also enable them to keep pace with the latest trends and meet emerging requirements to ultimately achieve long-term growth. "We are confident that the Kano Medal will have a significant impact in establishing a solid foundation for knowledge transfer and exchange of experiences in the field of total quality and leadership excellence among various vital sectors and corporate environments," concluded Al Awar.
The previous year’s winners of the Feigenbaum Award were Mr. Feras Al-Jabi, General Manager "ITQAN" (Accomplished Leaders category); Ms. Safia Saeed Al Raqbani, responsible for Zayed University’s Office of Development and External Affairs (Rising Stars category); and Ms. Laila Al Jassimi, CEO of Health Policy and Strategy Sector at Dubai Health Authority (DHA),(Women Leaders). The winners of the "Kano Medal for Excellence Catalysts 2011" were Major General Abdul Quddoos A. Razaq Al Obaidli, Dubai Police General Head Quarter, Director General - Department of Total Quality. Mr. Farid Mohammed Ahmed, Secretary General, Dubai World, Ms. Hawa Abdulla Bastaki, Director, Dubai Central Laboratory, Mr. Shawqi Hamdan Sajwani, Independent Consultant, Mr. Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Chief of Internal Audit, Dubai World.
