IKEA celebrates one year of success on Yas Island

IKEA Yas Island store will offer free coffee and cake to all visitors on March 15 (Thursday) as part of their one year anniversary celebrations to thank IKEA fans who have made the store grow into a lifestyle institution.

There will also be loads of fun-filled family activities in Småland during the weekend till March 17 including Face painting, Henna, Drawing Competition and give-away balloons. These activities will be held on Thursday and Friday 4pm to 7pm and Saturday 3pm to 6pm.

The 33,000sqm Al-Futtaim group-owned franchise opened its doors for business on Yas Island on March 15 last year and to date has welcomed 1.5 million visitors.

Omar Al-Futtaim, Vice-Chairman, Al-Futtaim Group, had led the family-owned business house team in cutting the traditional log flown in especially from Sweden, signifying the official launch.

IKEA store on Yas Island has 1,450 parking bays and are served by 35 cash tills. Alongside Market-Hall (6,000sqm) and Showroom Furniture (6,150sqm) areas, there is a 450-seat, 2,100sqm restaurant serving popular Swedish delicacies as well as its healthy and affordable breakfast and lunches.

IKEA provides shuttle bus service to and from Abu Dhabi Marina Mall to IKEA YAS Island. The bus leaves every 1 hour. The first trip from Marina Mall is at 9:30am and the last trip from IKEA Yas Island is at 10:30pm.
