After a several months-long competition spanning 17 markets across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region,Jaguar Land Rover MENA has announced its first-ever Technician of the Year champions for both of its premium luxury vehicle brands, naming Koudi Kamal from Morocco as Jaguar’s Technician of the Year 2015 and Jinto Thomas from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as this year’s winner for Land Rover.

Progressing through the semi-finals along with ten other Jaguar Land Rover finalists from Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Qatar and the UAE, Kamal and Thomas competed during the final regional leg of the Jaguar Land Rover Technician of the Year programme at the Dubai Autodrome, located in Dubai, UAE, on 26 January, 2016. Competing for the Jaguar and Land Rover Technician of the Year titles, finalists went through a series of theoretical and practical evaluations, demonstrating the first-class technical support and customer service promises that Jaguar Land Rover prides itself on. Kamal and Thomas will both progress to the Global Jaguar Land Rover Technician of the Year finals that will be held in the United Kingdom (UK) later this year.

Mahmoudia Motors –the sole and official dealer of Jaguar and Land Rover cars in Jordan – played an important role in the regional programme by hosting a semi-final competition in Jordan at its After-Sales Facility in Amman. During the semi-finals, Mahmoudia Motors Jaguar Team Leader, Laith Al-Jamal, demonstrated a high level of expertise and customer service skills, setting him ahead of the pack and helping him to successfully advance to the finals, where he competed amongst the top 12 Jaguar Land Rover technicians in the region.

“This is the first Jaguar Land Rover competition of its kind in the MENA region and it is a great initiative to celebrate the highly talented pool of individuals who drive the Jaguar Land Rover business forward every day across the region,” said Rob Preston, Customer Service Director at Jaguar Land Rover MENA. “As long-term investors in our people, we understand that training and development are key. The Technician of the Year platform has helped us demonstrate the dedication to excellence which lies at the heart of our Jaguar Land Rover team’s efforts to create first-class experiences for our customers.”

Consistent with efforts to develop the skills of its team members, Jaguar Land Rover launched a dedicated Regional Training Academy in Dubai in 2014, designed to deliver training programmes to retailers and staff across the MENA network. Now, with 40 retailers across 18 markets in MENA, and a further 24 retailers expected by 2017/18, the Academy serves as a dedicated regional training facility to enable Jaguar Land Rover to replicate the in-depth training offered by its UK-based Academy.
