Jordan Ahli Bank sponsors the Second Global Economic Conference
Jordan Ahli Bank recently sponsored the Second Global Economic Conference, which was entitled "Financing the Economics of the New Millennium: Exploring the Opportunities and the Challenges." For the second year in a row, the conference was organized by the Jordan Society for Scientific Research (JSSR), under the patronage of former Prime Minister and President of JSSR HE Abdul Salam Majali.
In addition to its sponsorship of the conference, the bank also participated in the opening ceremony where its Chairman DR.Omar Razzaz delivered a speech on the challenges and opportunities facing the Jordanian economy following the Arab Spring. At the conference, the bank promoted its most prominent banking and non-banking products and services, which target different sectors of society and focus on the development of education and scientific research.
During his speech, DR. Razzaz reviewed the most important challenges currently facing the Jordanian economy, including the small size of the local economy, the high level of debt, the effects of the Arab Spring and the ongoing war in Syria, the scarcity of natural resources, and the volatility of oil prices. Razzaz also identified opportunities for growth, calling on the members present at the conference to take advantage of Jordan’s political and financial stability, which provides a secure foundation on which to push transformation toward a production-based economy. Razzaz also called for the focused use of the vast human creative and productive energies in Jordan, especially those related to entrepreneurship, and the need for further solidarity between both governmental and private sectors, following the Turkish example.
Jordan Ahli Bank's management clarified that the bank's sponsorship of the conference resulted from its dedication to strengthening its presence in events that aim to find effective solutions to meet the challenges facing local and regional economies. Since the foundation of Jordan Ahli Bank, it has focused on development and progress, currently leveraging the objectives of its new After Sixty strategy, which aims to position the bank as much more than solely a financial institution. Emphasizing its responsibilities, which include the transformation of the banking industry and participation in economic growth, Jordan Ahli Bank holds at its core an unwavering desire to embody social and financial responsibility in not only words, but also in actions.
The conference held various sessions to discuss financial issues, such as the effects of global events on the economy, Islamic banking and finance, and the promotion of creativity and innovation in economic knowledge and growth. Other topics included, but were not limited to, Jordan’s debt, problems facing investors, the impact of economic globalization on the competitiveness of Arab foreign trade, the role of foreign investment in financing the new millennium, cloud computing applications in business administration, the characteristics and economic effects of financing Islamic organizations, and social and moral responsibilities of Islamic banks. Also discussed at the conference was the role of entrepreneurial projects in the restoration of archaeological desert sites, achieving cultural tourism marketing goals, and the importance of innovation in driving a knowledge-based economy in Arab countries. This sponsorship is one of the multiple sponsorships provided by Jordan Ahli Bank to support activities that discuss the reality of local and regional economic development and that aim to positively transform challenges into promising opportunities.
