National Arab Motors sponsors pioneering solar energy project to benefit Ministry of Education school

National Arab Motors, the exclusive Kia distributor in Jordan, recently announced its full sponsorship of a project to equip the Ghwebbeh Secondary School for Boys with solar modules for the generation of electricity. The project will be implemented at the school – located in the Jordan Valley district – in cooperation with the Princess Alia Foundation, and is the first of its kind to be carried out among schools under the Ministry of Education in Jordan.
This project falls under the umbrella of Kia Jordan’s corporate social responsibility, and its commitment to helping empower schools in underprivileged areas. The solar modules will enable the school to meet its energy needs, in addition to generating income by selling surplus units to the local electric company. Kia Motors will oversee the implementation of the project by The Asalah Company, which specializes in sustainable energy. The generated income will be used to purchase much-needed supplies for the school and to cover the costs of necessary maintenance and renovation works.
Commenting on his support for the project, Samir Tayeh, President of National Arab Motors, Kia Jordan, said, “Protecting the environment and overcoming Jordan’s unique challenges in this field demand the combined efforts of the public and private sectors and civil society institutions. We are eager to support this cause championed by the Princess Alia Foundation, as we seek to walk in the footsteps of Kia Motors Corporation and its commitment to environmental conservation, demonstrated through the cars it manufactures as well as its corporate social responsibility initiatives and practices.”
Also commenting on the project, Sharifa Sarra bint Ghazi, CEO of the Princess Alia Foundation, said, “We would like to convey our sincere gratitude to National Arab Motors for supporting our mission. As we seek to increase local awareness about the environment and facilitate the adoption of environmentally friendly practices, we hope that this partnership will underscore the importance of cooperation between various sectors in promoting the generation of solar energy and other eco-friendly practices.”
