Majid Al Futtaim Properties is readying its three Dubai-based flagship destinations: Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre and Mirdif City Centre for the biggest shopping event of the season - Dubai Shopping Festival 2012. A supporter since the inaugural DSF 17 years ago, Majid Al Futtaim Properties will be a Strategic Partner for DSF 2012, underscoring its commitment in partnering with the Dubai Events & Promotions Establishment (DEPE) to create an unparalleled shopping experience. With AED 1 million in shopping sprees to be won, family entertainment and an unrivaled offer of more than 1,320 shopping options, Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ shopping malls will be the focal point of festivity this DSF.

From January 5th – February 5th, shoppers spending a combined total at AED 300 across Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre and Mirdif City Centre will get the chance to win weekly shopping sprees worth AED 250,000. Further adding to the excitement, visitors to each of these three malls this DSF 2012 will be treated to a culturally diverse calendar of entertaining performances and fun activities for the family.

Mall of the Emirates is getting ready for the Summer Games with Olympic-themed entertainment highlighted by an Opening and Closing Ceremony, and telling a tale of its evolution since Ancient Greece to the modern, world-class, multinational and cultural spectacle it is today. Entertainment will take place daily from January 5th – 11th with shows at 6:30pm and 8:30pm on the first day, and 5:15pm, 6:30pm and 8:30pm timings on all other days.

Deira City Centre will create an all-day air of festivity this DSF 2012 with world dance performances and activities for kids and parents. Starting January 5th – 20th, the Centre Stage will take the spotlight with daytime and evening entertainment. During the day, kids can join a creative fashion workshop where budding fashionistas can style up and get their photo taken. Parents can then download photos as a keepsake from the Deira City Centre Facebook page, and get the chance to win an AED 500 GiftCard daily.

By night, the Centre Stage will transform into a cultural extravaganza with world dance performances taking influence from all corners of the world including Bollywood, Asia, Europe and modern, urban dance. These performances will take place from January 5th – 20th with three nightly shows each day. In addition, the newly opened Metro Link will feature a lifestyle photography exhibition showcasing the ‘best of’ images from the region’s up and coming talent.

Underscoring its reputation as a key family entertainment hub, Mirdif City Centre will be featuring two international shows including the acrobatic mastery of The Shaolin Monks Return. Back by popular demand, these graceful warriors from China will perform new, thrilling martial arts performances. The Shaolin Monks Return shows will run from January 9th – 18th and coincide with Chinese New Year, a key holiday and peak retail opportunity for the mall.

From January 26th – February 4th, international favourite and TV series LazyTown performs live in Mirdif City Centre’s main Galleria. The show is a based on the adventures of a group of friends living in LazyTown, who are inspired to be active and healthy by Sportucus, an athletic superhero. Popular with children around the world, this is the first time LazyTown has been brought to the UAE and aims to send positive messages about keeping fit and eating healthy.

Dubai Shopping Festival starts on January 5th and runs for four weeks until February 5th. January and February are traditionally strong shopping months in the UAE, supported by events including Chinese New Year, Russian Christmas, school holidays, increases in tourism and the concentration of world-class shopping malls each offering a unique shopping, leisure and entertainment experience.
