Millennium Resort Mussanah celebrates sustainability during Earth Hour 2017

As part of its longstanding commitment to support the environment, Millennium Resort Mussanah celebrated Earth Hour 2017 yesterday by switching off all non-essential lighting from 8:30-9:30 PM in solidarity with millions around the world. The resort held activities throughout the day inspiring guests to observe the hour.

Christoph Schleissing, General Manager of Millennium Resort Mussanah, said, “As stewards of the environment, we are proud of our responsibility to nurture the biodiverse landscapes and natural heritage of the Sultanate. Earth Hour allows us to highlight our efforts throughout the year and encourage our guests to join us in shining a light on climate change. This year, our efforts saved up to 583 kilowatt-hour and inspired countless people to follow suit and appreciate the importance of sustainable living.”

Millennium Resort Mussanah’s event featured live acoustic music, treating visitors to renditions of Michael Jackson’s classic ‘Heal The World’. Guests were invited to join the resort’s staff in a candlelight vigil in front of the marina, with more than 200 participating in the tribute. Videos of the celebrations were shared with the resort’s followers on its social media platforms, encouraging even more people to honor the values of the hour.              

Held annually every March, Earth Hour is an event started in Australia to encourage sustainable living and raise awareness on important issues related to sustainability, conservation and the environment. Since its inception in 2007, the grassroots movement has gone global, with more than a hundred million people across 25 time zones and six continents participating last year.
