Following its belief in the importance of supporting its human resources and strengthening cooperation with its strategic partners, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) held today its 2016 Annual Forum in Sofitel Downtown Dubai. The Forum represents a significant platform to recognise strategic partners and talented employees who have contributed to achieving the Ministry’s initiatives and key objectives. 

The annual forum witnessed the presence of HE Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; HE Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF; in addition to MoF assistant undersecretaries, directors and employees, and a number of representatives from ministries and MoF’s strategic partners. 

HE Obaid Humaid Al Tayer delivered an opening speech, in which he stressed the Ministry’s commitment to achieve its strategic objectives which fall under one vision to achieve global leadership in financial management and ensure sustainable competitive environment. This requires improving the efficiency of human resources and strengthen partnerships which are necessary in implementing the Ministry’s mission as per the innovation vision. 

HE Al Tayer then said: “2015 was an eventful year and witnessed several UAE initiatives. One of the most important initiative is the ‘Year of Innovation’, which saw the launch of several activities and programmes aimed at improving the quality of services delivered, achieving the federal government’s vision, improving performance and efficiency of human resources, and strengthening the capacity of infrastructure to contribute to the competitiveness levels and attract investments and economic activities.” 

HE added: “Any entity’s success is built on collaboration, specifically if it follows the directions and strategy of our wise leadership. The Ministry has been keen from the outset to establish partnerships and evolve in different fields in order to improve the quality levels in its work, and support other institutions to maximise benefits. One of the most important highlights with regards to the Ministry’s partnerships is building a strong network of regional and international agreements on the avoidance of double taxation on income and protection and promotion of investment, which have created a number of opportunities. Other beneficial agreements include the internal ones on exchanging experiences, best practices and adopting initiatives.” 

During the forum, a panel discussion was held on government innovation in the UAE, which witnessed the participation of Major Muhammad Ismail Al Harmoudi, Director of the Innovation Center at the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Fatima Yousef Al Naqbi, CEO of Government Innovation at MoF. The panel discussion was moderated by Faisal Ali Al Mansouri, Director of Strategic Planning Performance Department, and covered several elements including the concept, vision, aspirations and achievements within the innovation field; in addition to a presentation on the UAE’s experience and achievements in the field of innovation as well as initiatives and programmes launched by local entities during the UAE Innovation Week. 

During the forum, the Ministry honoured its strategic partners who have a made a real change and offere constant support to the Ministry. Among the honoured partners are ministries as well as exceptional federal entities and local departments. The Ministry honoured some of its most talented employees for their efforts during 2015 and those of who have succeeded as per the federal government employees’ performance management system.

The annual forum was concluded with a group photo of HE Obaid Humaid Al Tayer and the Ministry’s leaders, employees and strategic partners. HE concluded saying: “We extend our gratitude to our strategic partners for their continuous support to the Ministry, we would also like to congratulate the honoured employees and praise their efforts in raising the work efficiency. I look forward for this annual forum to be a distinguished platform to enhance our partnerships and discuss new partnerships opportunities that support our institution’s role in serving this country.

The 2016 honoured strategic partners included the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future (MoCaF), Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior (MoI), Ministry of Economy (MoE), Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MoID), Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoH), Federal Customs Authority (FCA), UAE Central Bank, Federation National Council (FNA), United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), Statistics Centre, Emirates Investment Authority (EIA) and National Media Council (NMC).

أعلنت المديرية العامة للأمن الوطني (الشرطة) الجزائرية، مساء الجمعة، توقيف 41 شخصا في مظاهرات شهدتها عدة مدن ضد ترشح الرئيس عبد العزيز بوتفليقة لولاية خامسة في انتخابات 18 أبريل/ نيسان القادم.

وأكدت إدارة الشرطة في بيان اطلعت عليه وكالة الاناضول أن عمليات التوقيف كانت بسبب “الإخلال بالنظام العام والاعتداء على القوة العامة وتحطيم الممتلكات” دون تقديم تفاصيل أكثر حول أماكن توقيف هؤلاء المتظاهرين.

والجمعة، استجاب آلاف المواطنين بعدة محافظات جزائرية، إلى دعوات للتظاهر تم تداولها عبر شبكات التواصل، ضد ترشح بوتفليقة (81 عاما) لولاية خامسة في انتخابات الرئاسة المقررة في 18 أبريل/ نيسان القادم.

واتسمت هذه المظاهرات بالسلمية في أغلب مناطق البلاد باستثناء حدوث مواجهات بين قوات مكافحة الشغب ومتظاهرين بوسط العاصمة خلال محاولتهم السير نحو القصر الرئاسي .

ووفق شهود عيان لجأت قوات الأمن إلى الغاز المسيل للدموع وتوقيف عدة أشخاص بعد تحذيرات للمتظاهرين وتعرضها للرشق بمقذوفات وحجارة قبل أن يتراجع المحتجون ويغادروا المكان.

وصبيحة اليوم نشر ناشطون معلومات عبر شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي حول توقيف عدد من زملائهم قبل بداية المظاهرات بالعاصمة.

وعلقت الرابطة الجزائرية للدفاع عن حقوق الإنسان (مستقلة) على بيان الشرطة بالمطالبة ب”الإفراج الفوري عن الموقوفين وان يتم احترام حق التظاهر سلميا” كما نشرت على صفحتها بموقع “فيسبوك”.
