Msheireb Properties announced that Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum (HOK) has been appointed as Lead Consultant for the design development of Phase 4 of the Msheireb Downtown mixed use development in Doha.
The award follows an extensive review by Msheireb Properties of submissions from a group of internationally renowned architectural firms competing to undertake the design development of Phase 4.
Phase 4 of Msheireb Downtown comprises 135,000 sqm of mixed-use development across 12 buildings that will include commercial, retail, healthcare, residential, a 4-star hotel, civic buildings and public spaces. In line with the company’s commitment to leadership in the field of sustainable urban development, HOK has been mandated to target a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) average Gold rating for all phase 4 components.
Eng. Issa M. Al Mohannadi, CEO of Msheireb Properties said, “Msheireb Downtown is fundamentally rooted in Qatar’s heritage but simultaneously seeks to accentuate modern environmental management and international standards in sustainability through its groundbreaking architectural and design techniques. We believe HOK is an ideal partner to help fulfill our vision and we are enthusiastic to have them on board for our Phase 4 design.”
HOK has been involved in the successful planning and design of many mixed-use developments throughout the Middle East and worldwide. "We are honoured to have the opportunity to collaborate with a partner that is equally committed to our company’s core values of seamlessly integrating sustainability and innovation in our designs that enrich people’s lives," stated Bill Hellmuth, President of HOK and Principal Designer for the Phase 4 project.
Msheireb Properties is dedicated to leading an urban and sustainable development agenda for Qatar.
