Municipal Infrastructure at ADM Launches Trial Version of Infrastructure Material Approval System

The Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) announced the updated trial version Infrastructure Material Approval System (IMAS) at the end of last December during an induction workshop held at the Headquarters of the Municipality. Attendees of the workshop included consultants, service providers, relevant municipal staff, technical planning department and the infrastructure support department in Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector.
This initiative illustrates the keenness of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities – Abu Dhabi City Municipality to improve and facilitate procedures and services of the Municipality. It also aims to provide modern services that commensurate with the aspirations of the customers and achieves the vision of Abu Dhabi Government and its commitment to improving the performance and sustainable development and moving forward in the electronic transformation of services. This service also reflects the Municipality's commitment to the government direction to facilitate and automate all operations through applying modern systems to all procedures.
The Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector revealed that 3400 requests for infrastructure materials were approved for the IMAS system during 2017, with an average of (8) working days per article compared to paper submissions, which took 14 working days to issue the approval. The cost of applying for the system has been reduced by 30 dirhams compared to the previously submitted worked, which was estimated at 775 dirhams per submission. Consequently, it has contributed effectively to preserving the environment and reducing the carbon footprint, which is equal to planting two trees per one submission on the system.
The new release of the electronic system will enable the holding of virtual video conferences, listing the infrastructure assets, and undertaking cost-benefit accounts of projects and carbon footprint. The system also supports the tracking of transactions through an app on smartphones enabling the following-up of projects, improvement of the online library, geospatial link, and e-signature on approved material endorsements.
The workshop, which was held to mark the release of the new IMAS version, aimed to familiarise the user with how to register on the system as well as sending and tracking applications for endorsing materials through the Programme. The workshop also examined the objectives and evolution phases, steps of using the system and the optimal means of benefiting from the potentials of the system and customising them for the benefit of the concerned clients.
