Nahayan to open ADU’s “International Conference on Organization and Management” today

His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Vice-President of Abu Dhabi University’s Board of Regents is set to open today (Sunday 22nd of November) Abu Dhabi University’s “International Conference on Organization and Management (ICOM)”. Organized by ADU’s College of Business Administration in strategic collaboration with the Asia Academy of Management, ICOM kick starts the University’s week-long celebrations of “UAE Innovation Week” by bringing together professors, scholars, researchers and experts who will present around 200 research papers representing 35 countries from around the world and divided into 12 tracks.

Commenting on the significance of the conference, H.E Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri Chairman of Abu Dhabi University’s Executive Board explained: “ICOM is one of the largest academic conferences that the University has organized as evident by its success in attracting around 200 research papers, including 68 from the UAE on innovation in management ,organization and educational leadership. The conference aims to highlight successful experiences in innovative management regionally and internationally and its impact on increasing the effectiveness and productivity of organizations in both the public and private sectors, as well as ensuring their sustainability. ICOM is also a part of a series of initiatives that ADU has launched in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on dubbing 2015 as the “Year of Innovation”. It also launches ADU’s celebrations of “UAE Innovation Week” in line with the directives of H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai”.

Bin Harmal pointed out that organizing this international conference is further testament to the advancement of ADU’s College of Business Administration and its commitment to international standards in teaching and research, which gained the College international accreditation from the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business –AACSB for all its programs.

The International Conference on Organization and Management also includes a “Doctoral Colloquium” which will consist of panels of experts in management research who will share their experiences. Research presented at ICOM will also be reviewed and revised by a specialized committee to select papers that will be published in SCOPUS / ABDC listed international refereed journals.

The dream began with the Charter of Abu Dhabi University in the year 2000, After three years of planning, the university opened its doors in September 2003, to an entering class of 1,000 students on its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
