National Bank of Oman (NBO) has partnered with the Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat and the Bangladesh Social Club to promote safe and secure remittance through the bank’s various channels.

In order to ensure customers funds reach their intended destination, NBO held an event with community leaders and representatives from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to highlight the options available.

In attendance were Ms Maushumi Rahman, Minister (Political) and Deputy Chief of Mission from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Mr Sirajul Houque, Chairman of the Bangladesh Social Club in Oman. Tariq Atiq, Chief Retail and Digital Officer and Mr Ramakrishna Gowdgere Vedandi, Head of National Sales, represented NBO at the event.

Tariq Atiq, Chief Retail and Digital Banking Officer, said, “NBO is the first bank in Oman to introduce this initiative and will become the preferred banking partner for the Bangladeshi community as we reaffirm our promise to empowering customers and communities. We are firmly invested in the prosperity of the Sultanate, and one of the ways we have succeeded in this mission is by building enduring connections with our clients and unlocking opportunities as one.”

He added, “We also operate a remittance counter within the embassy itself, offering the community a familiar environment in which to transfer money instantly, either by using cash or directly from their NBO account. The service counters are available to customers of any bank in Oman and it is vitally important that customers to remember to only use officially-approved and licensed transfer agents when sending funds overseas.” 

NBO customers can instantly send funds of up to OMR 7,500 per day from their account using the Bank’s digital remittance service available anywhere at any time through the award-winning NBO Mobile App. Customers will enjoy the competitive transaction fee of OMR 1.5 plus VAT per transcation.The instant fund transfer service is available to eight countries including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Phillipines, Indonesia, UAE, and Egypt. The app is also available in eight languages including Arabic, English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and  Kannada.
