Oman American Business Center (AmCham Oman) hosted its first in-person event since event restrictions were eased, at the Sheraton Oman Hotel.

As Oman’s largest and most active business networking group, and the official affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Oman, the OABC was pleased to welcome old and new members to focus on reconnecting face-to-face. Members enjoyed the evening of networking and a series of raffles sponsored by member companies: Talabat, Sheraton Oman Hotel, Booma, 3rd Street Donuts, Otaxi and Origo.

"While it may sound surprising for a membership organization during the pandemic, over 75 new companies joined the OABC since January 2020," says Rebecca Olson, Executive Director of the OABC. "This was both in spite of and because of challenges to connect during Covid-19. OABC provided a strong network for companies to still make B2B connections with other professionals and information, while unable to meet physically. But now we're ready to jump back into action in person."

To jumpstart this new season of connection, the OABC has planned for a very active in-person calendar: hosting twice-monthly business events and informational sessions during this upcoming year.

“While the OABC worked tirelessly during the pandemic to keep members connected through ZOOM events and online, there is nothing like face to face business networking,” says Rebecca Olson. “Over the years, I’ve seen members meet new contacts at in-person events, then watched these connections grow over time into strong business relationships. The entire OABC team and the Board of Directors are so happy to see a return to physical events and wish the whole OABC community many more times of effective and enjoyable networking.”

Olson continues, “Like many ‘normal’ events that disappeared during the darkest months of the pandemic, we will never again take physical meetups for granted. After spending so much time isolated, online and remote, we are grateful for opportunities to meet with others, and have plenty to catch up on!”
