Ooredoo launches New ‘7 series’ numbers

Ooredoo is now offering customers a new range of eight digit mobile numbers beginning with the number ‘7’ instead of the usual ‘9’. The ‘7 series’ was allotted by Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority as part of an effort to meet skyrocketing demand over the past few years.

Feras Al Shaikh, Director of Consumer Sales, said, “The penetration of mobile subscriptions in Oman has grown rapidly. In fact there are two million more subscriptions than the number of people in the country according to figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information. With interest in telephone numbers greater than ever, it was imperative a solution was found.  The result of those efforts has resulted in the new ‘7’ series, which will provide the ever-growing Omani market with an additional 10 million new numbers that will meet the demand for years to come.”
