PepsiCo-Jordan offers Ahmad Abu Rayya the opportunity to meet football legend Messi in person

Marking the conclusion of several exciting sporting events that brought together young talented Jordanian athletes, PepsiCo-Jordan winner of the 2009 and 2011 King Abdullah II Award for Excellence announced the end of its latest football competition. Entitled ‘Play with Pepsi and Meet Messi’, the competition was launched in collaboration with the Jordan Football Association (JFA). 

The competition, which was open to players aged 14-24 years, aimed to showcase talented young football players across Jordan. The competition’s numerous events spanned the entire Kingdom including Aqaba, Irbid, Amman, Karak, Al Salt and Zarqa.

Ten talented participants qualified for the final phase of the competition which took place in Amman. Out of the ten finalists, the judging panel which comprised well-known Jordanian football players Jeries Tadros and Badran Al Shakran, in addition to the JFA’s Faisal Ibrahim and PepsiCo-Jordan’s Public Relations Manager Mohammed Arabiyat, selected Ahmad Sa’ed Abu Rayya as the first place winner. Abu Rayya won a fully-paid once-in-a-lifetime 5-day trip for two to Miami to meet the international football star Lionel Messi in person. Second place winner Ashraf Jameel Ahmad Shehadeh received a JD 2,000 cash prize, whilst third place winner Ammar Mohammed Shehadeh Juma’a won a JD 1,000 cash prize.

I would also like to extend our gratitude to the seasoned judging panel who offered their expertise in evaluating all participants and helped us unveil fresh Jordanian talents. We are committed to continuously supporting Jordan’s youth by organizing new activities that hone their different skills and encourage them to lead sound and healthy lifestyles,” commented PepsiCo-Jordan’s General Manager Eng. Nidal Hamam. 

In turn, first place winner Abu Rayya stated, “I am grateful to PepsiCo-Jordan for this opportunity that allowed me to showcase my football skills and express my love of the sport. I eagerly look forward to my upcoming trip to Miami where I will get the chance to meet the international football legend Messi, whose professional talent has caught the attention of the entire world.”
