Qatar-Turkey Economic Forum to Begin in Doha Tomorrow

The Qatar-Turkey Economic Forum will begin in Doha on Tuesday, Qatar Chamber (QC) said in a statement on Sunday.
QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al Thani and President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Rifat Hisarcf1'fdkl'fdo'f0lu will inaugurate the forum.

Representatives of more than 150 Turkish companies specialising in infrastructure, construction, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, foodstuffs, agriculture, glass and plastics, industrial equipment, electricity, logistics and security systems will attend the event.

The forum will see discussions on investment opportunities in Qatar presented by officials from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the Ministry of Transport and Communication and Qatar Development Bank. It also will highlight the business and investment opportunities available in Turkey. The bilateral trade volume between Qatar and Turkey in 2016 crossed $1.44 billion (QR5.24 billion) against $1.43 billion in the previous year.

Qatarf0's exports to Turkey in 2016 stood at $908.5 million, while imports from Turkey stood at $538.9 million. The trade balance continued to be in favour of Qatar at $369.6 million, marginally down from $384.4 million in 2015. 
More than 200 Turkish companies representing a number of industries are operating in Qatar.
