Qtel Group Companies win four awards at CommsMEA Ceremony

Qtel and Qtel Group have continued their successful awards season, receiving four major awards at the seventh annual CommsMEA Award Ceremony held in Dubai this week.
The CommsMEA Awards are attended by the top executives from the Middle East and Africa’s telecoms companies. The awards recognise the efforts of organisations that push boundaries and transform the telecommunications sector in the region, and are voted on by an international panel of judges.
Qtel won “Converged Service Provider of the Year” for its groundbreaking Next Generation Mozaic TV, the most advanced pay TV service in the Middle East that reached more than 10,000 customers in its first two months of launch. The service delivers HD picture quality, and On-Demand features such as recording more than 200 channels of live TV, and renting 500 of the latest movies.
Qtel developed the service to provide the best range of entertainment options for customers in Qatar, and the development of its nationwide fibre network has enabled the company to significantly upgrade and enhance the service.
Other Qtel Group companies also saw success, winning awards for their groundbreaking efforts.
Wataniya Kuwait won “Best Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative” for its “Give Kuwait” initiative to empower talent and give young people a chance to maximize their potential.
The platform gave young talent exposure, connectivity and development. Wataniya organised a five-day exhibition where 250 participants received free space and booths, along with a multi-channel advertising campaign.
Nawras in Oman won “Customer Service Provider of the Year” for its efforts in placing customers at the front and centre of their business. Nawras provides 24/7 customer care through a dedicated number, fax and email, and provides rigorous customer service training programme for young Omani nationals.
Nomination and judging of this award was open to CommsMEA readers, demonstrating the extent to which Nawras is recognised and valued as being a leader in customer service in the region.
Nedjma in Algeria won “Best Marketing Campaign of the Year” for its integrated strategies in increasing market share for its variety of cutting-edge products and services. One of the examples cited by the judges was the strong response for Nedjma’s N’ternet Pack for daily 3G mobile Internet service, especially in using a famous Algerian comedian in a video advertisement that was widely shared on social media.
Nedjma also saw strong response on its marketing efforts for promoting the Nedjmanet application of social networking and the Storm M’stor for refilling credit without giving a phone number.
With its incredible diversity of operations across the Middle East, North Africa and Asia, Qtel Group continues to invest in services to improve the customer experience and enrich the lives of people across the community. The awards for its efforts in product innovation, customer service and outreach, and CSR underline the companies’ efforts in these areas.
Qtel Group has also won a number of awards this month. It recently received the awards “Best Investor Relations” and “Best Corporate Governance in the Middle East” from the Middle East Investor Relations Society, and the “Best Corporate Website 2012 Qatar” from the KWD Middle East Webranking Survey and Awards, in recognition of the company’s efforts to keep shareholders up-to-date and informed.
