RAK Ceramics, the world's largest ceramic tiles & sanitaryware manufacturing company, has announced that it is organising a humanitarian campaign in cooperation with UNICEF to provide aid to drought-hit areas in the Horn of Africa, which includes Somalia and parts of Kenya and Ethiopia. An estimated 11 million people are suffering from shortage of food supply and other necessities as a result of the drought, and RAK Ceramics is committed to offer relief to the victims through its fund drive.

RAK Ceramics has collected cash donations from its employees that will be used to fund food supplies to feed 520 children for one full month in the drought affected areas through UNICEF.

Abdulla Mahmood, Head-MARCOM, RAK Ceramics, said: “As a socially responsible and responsive corporate citizen, RAK Ceramics constantly looks for ways to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate. We are therefore very eager to partner with UNICEF for this campaign, which reaches out to the people in Somalia who are suffering from extreme famine. This campaign can hopefully ease their suffering, while we also aim to inspire and encourage other organisations and individuals to extend support in any way and help save lives in Africa. This is a greatly fulfilling activity that reaffirms the true character of RAK Ceramics as an organisation that truly cares about the community.”

RAK Ceramics is a USD 1 billion global conglomerate that supplies to over 150 countries and has been officially recognised as the world’s largest ceramic tile manufacturer with a global production output of 117 million square meters.
