Royal Oman Police and Oman Automobile Association Recognize NBO for Its Continuous Efforts in Promoting Sports and Road Safety

The National Bank of Oman (NBO) was recently recognized for championing sports and road safety by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the Oman Automobile Association (OAA). During a special event under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Sa'ad bin Mohammed al Mardhouf Al Sa'adi, Minister of Sports Affairs, ROP and OAA honored Omani drivers who participated in local and international motorsport races along with companies that have continuously pledged their support to national sportsmen and women and have long advocated for road safety.
“Throughout NBO’s history, we have always committed ourselves to supporting the developmental goals of the Sultanate and creating sustainable impact through community engagement,” said Hassan Abdul Amir Shaban, General Manager - Chief Government Banking Officer at NBO. “We share a common goal with ROP and OAA and that is to promote a more positive traffic safety culture. I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for the valuable partnership that we share which will undoubtedly contribute to encouraging behavioral changes and mitigating risk factors.”
NBO’s dedication to sports combines the Bank’s philosophy of success with its customer-centric approach. These values of integrity, determination, and hard work carry through NBO’s comprehensive range of innovative financial solutions.
The Bank is an avid patron of all sports including its 10 years-long sponsorship of professional racecar driver, Ahmad Al Harthy, the most successful Omani racing driver of all time. NBO also made sporting history by hosting the NBO Oman Open, the first-ever PGA European Tour event to take place in the Sultanate. Attracting world-renowned golf players, the tour played a pivotal role in promoting the Sultanate as a leading sports and tourism destination, being broadcast live to more than 490 million homes in more than 150 countries every week and generating in excess of 2,200 global broadcast hours for each event. Earlier this year, NBO was awarded a token of appreciation from the Ministry of Sports Affairs for continuously promoting sports.
“Sports play a large role in the health and progress of a nation. It is something that connects people. With principals parallel to our own, we are determined to be an engine of unity, creating opportunities to bring people together while fostering the amazing talent we have in the Sultanate,” explained Shaban. “We fully understand how through sports, we can proudly fly the Omani flag at international competitions and also promote the Sultanate as a leading destination for global events.”
