ALBAWABA - The Russian Embassy in Sweden said that a drone dropped red paint on their embassy overnight, while no one was harmed, "This ... is not just a provocation, but an obvious attempt to intimidate the Russian mission staff," the embassy wrote.

Stockholm police said they were investigating the incident describing it as “vandalism”, when asked for further details, Stockholm police said that the investigation is “classified”.

The Russian embassy posted photos of the incident, including the drone and the red paint - the drone apparently had some sort of device connected with wires at the bottom. Authorities suspect it was made to mimic an improvised explosive device.

It turned out this was not an isolated incident but the latest in a string of harassment to the Russian embassy. The Swedish authorities said they were investigating over ten similar incidents at the embassy but have "in the past two years not led to any results".

The Swedish police even formed a special unit dedicated to investigating these incidents happening at embassies, saying they had become more “common” and “complex”. It said that paint had been dropped over the Russian embassy in November 2024, September 2025, and July 2025.

In January of last year, a 45-year-old man was arrested after slamming his car into the embassy gates, the suspect was a Ukrainian citizen “well known to the embassy and the local police".
