SAMENA Council to unveil 2nd chapter of CMO day

The South Asia – Middle East – North Africa region’s SAMENA Telecommunications Council today announced that it will be organizing the 2nd chapter of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Day on September 29th, 2013 at The One & Only Royal Mirage, Dubai. The meeting will gather industry operators who will share insights on the best practices, innovations and challenges in the telecommunications field with the aim of modelling regional perspectives on breakthrough trends in the telecommunications marketing discipline.

Best practices in customer experience management, delivering transformative customer experiences, in addition to the challenges in the digital ecosystem and the increasing demand for broadband will be the major highlights of the panel discussions along with sessions on SME marketing, future of branding and advertising among other topics. 

The CMO Committee Working Group (CMOC) is one of several working groups comprising of SAMENA Council members and including CMOs or equivalent commercial business leaders from regional telecommunications operators, strategy consultants, strategic suppliers, representatives from regulatory agencies and an executive board. The Committee aims at generating unique perspectives on how to shape the marketing outreach of regional telecommunications industry, and influence regulatory agenda to ensure a successful environment for new and innovative value creation.

SAMENA Telecommunications Council

The Council was initially led by Dr. Muhammad Ali Al Wohaibi, then-CEO of Oman Telecom. Subsequently, SAMENA Council was chaired by Orange Jordan Telecom Group’s CEO Mr. Mickael Ghossein and then the group CEO of Saudi Telecom Company, Eng. Saud Al Daweesh. Elected in 2011, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Isa Al Khalifa, Group CEO of Batelco served as a chairman of the SAMENA Council’s Board of Directors until September 2013 and was succeeded by Dr. Nasser Marafih, then-Group CEO of Ooredoo. In 2016, the Board of Directors elected Dr. Khaled Biyari, Group CEO of STC, to lead SAMENA Council. On February 27, 2018, in Barcelona, STC was again elected to chair the Board of Directors under the leadership of STC GCEO Eng. Nasser Al Nasser.
