The focus on technology at schools has taken centre stage with the new smart learning initiative launched by the UAE government. The initiative seeks to establish a unique learning environment in schools through the introduction of 'Smart Classes,' with students, from grade six to grade nine, utilizing tablet PCs and high-speed 4G networks as a means of acquiring knowledge.

In an earlier project aimed at changing the customary style of teaching in schools, Samsung worked with the Abu Dhabi Education Council ADEC to transform Amro Bin Al A’as School in Al Ain from a traditional classroom to a Smart classroom using E-boards, GALAXY tablets, and classroom management software. Samsung’s Smart classroom seeks to transform classrooms as well as integrate teachers, students, parents and administrators into a single e-platform.

After carefully considering a variety of educational solutions, Samsung Smart classroom solution was chosen for its wide array of mobile and computing solutions. With these solutions, both schools and universities can effectively convert a conventional learning setting into a modern-day Smart classroom by utilizing Samsung’s range of GALAXY Tabs and Interactive E-board. Students in Smart classrooms can connect with the school intranet. They can also log into the network outside school through Wi-Fi or other connections.

Using the Interactive E-Board’s Classroom Management software creates a superior and digitally integrated classroom by allowing teachers and students to easily share the content on their tablets or E-board with each other. The advanced software allows teachers to share the lecture on the students’ tablets; conduct tests; monitor and control student’s device; or share one particular student’s work with others by importing his content onto the E-board.

“UAE is at the forefront of education with reforms such as Mohammed Bin Rashid Initiative for Smart Learning and ADEC’s 10 Year Strategic Plan and we are proud to be a part of this educational renaissance,” said Madhav Narayan, Senior Regional Director, Enterprise Business Group at Samsung Gulf Electronics. “Our educational solutions empower educators and students alike by giving them the tools they need to transform their learning and teaching experience.”

As technology based learning plays an integral role in the transformation of UAE’s educational sector, Samsung’s strategy is to invest in the human factor by creatingcustom solutions that encourage a superior digital learning environment for teachers and students. As a result, Samsung expanded the pilot Smart Classroom program at Amro Bin Al A’asSchool to working with Al Noor Training Center for Children with Special Needs. Under the ‘Samsung Hope for Children’ program, Samsung donated 50 of its latest GALAXY Tabs and 15 of its newly launched SLATE PC Series 7. The devices were integrated in the students’ education curriculums to help them learn more intuitively.

“We are experiencing a fundamental shift from learning to use technology to using technology to learn,” said Madhav. “Since UAE has a world class IT infrastructure and is looking to build its knowledge and educational sector, the evolution of Smart Learning is only expected to accelerate. As a result, we anticipate an uptake in demand for our educational solutions.”
