In line with its keenness to promote public safety, Samsung Electronics Levant launched the “S-Drive” application in collaboration with the Public Security Directorate/ Central Traffic Department. The application promotes safe driving and guarantees focused driver without mobile distraction. According to a research, a huge percentage of car accidents are caused mainly by mobile use while driving.

The developed “S-Drive” application encompasses alarms and voiced notifications to ensure everything is hands-free, whether in responding to text messages, staying connected or even when using GPS, which requires looking at the mobile to know the streets and directions. With the hands-free commands, Samsung application allows drivers to stay connected while driving and still focused on the road.

“Technology’s role lies in featuring the integration of technologies within people’s daily lives and that type of smart solutions are what we offer at Samsung Electronics for android smartphone users. The Samsung S-Drive application will allow users to drive and measure their trip route safely.” said Mr. Fadi Abu Shamat, Head of Retail & Corporate Marketing at Samsung Electronics Levant.

Drivers only need to download the Samsung S-Drive application on their android handsets, and activate it when getting behind the wheel, to turn the mobile into driving mode and start controlling it via voice commands to read out messages,. At the end of the trip, the driver will receive a text message with the travelled distance among other statistics; turning the smartphone from a distraction on the road, into a safe driving experience.

Colonel Yaser Harahsheh, Central Traffic Department Director praised Samsung’s initiative, as it reflects the company’s keenness on enforcing traffic safety, which he considers it as a joint responsibility. He expressed his gratitude to the private sector’s contributions that help in decreasing car accidents and their grave consequences on the citizens and the country. Stressing that the Traffic Department seeks to build collaborations with various sectors in safety education, and welcomes initiatives that continuously elevates traffic safety awareness and find smart and easy solutions to overtake bad driving habits.

Samsung Electronics Levant is dedicating a special booth to introduce the Samsung S-Drive application and its features in: City Mall, Taj Mall and The University of Jordan, in addition to roaming alert cars on the roads to emphasize on the importance of safe driving without using mobiles.
