Secondary Technical School (STS) students visit Emirates Steel

In line with its policy as an equal opportunity employer, Emirates Steel, the only integrated steel plant in the UAE, owned by Senaat, recently hosted for the first time 39 female students from the Secondary Technical School (STS).
The visit falls under the banner of Emirates Steel’s “Steel to Student” initiative that aims at supporting recruitment efforts of UAE Nationals, provide them with first-hand experience within the steel industry and fulfilling the company’s Emiratization strategy to place UAE Nationals in a variety of positions to support the growth of Emirates Steel and the sector.
The two weeks orientation and training program provided students with a unique platform that enabled them to discuss different aspects of the industry with a panel of selected Emirates Steel’s personnel, where they had the chance to ask them how they got to their current positions within the company, and the challenges they faced in their career at the largest steel manufacturer in the country. During the visit, students also had the chance to work on an electrical experiment under the guidance of Emirates Steel technicians.
“Steel to Student” initiative is an exclusive work placement program that combines formal training with practical hands-on experience in a live technical environment, where high school students can be immersed in live project work from day one. The program allows students to make their first mark within the business domain of steel making, while forming connections with a mix of talented people at Emirates Steel.
The program is designed and aimed at creating awareness of the Steel Making process in a structured format to familiarize the students with steel making and rolling processes as well as to deliver a technical and engineering insight of Emirates Steel and motivate Emirati youth to further explore the industry.
