ALBAWABA - The U.S. Embassy in Djibouti issued a security alert over an aircraft in an emergency situation near Chabelley Airbase.

It posted in a statement on August 9, "U.S. Embassy Djibouti is currently tracking an aircraft in distress in Djiboutian airspace."

The embassy also called on people to "avoid the area around Chabelley Airbase until further notice."

The statement continued, "The United States Embassy in Djibouti is currently monitoring the situation of an aircraft in distress in Djiboutian airspace. Avoid the area around Chabelley Air Base until further notice."

It was unknown whether the plane crashed or not, and that it is still hovering in Djiboutian airspace, despite some reports online claiming that the plane crashed.

Some said that flight data showed that a U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon lost signal near Djiboutian airspace after a Gulf of Oman patrol, with unconfirmed speculation of damage linked to Yemen's conflict.
