In support of Earth Hour 2017, The Sheraton Grand Hotel, Dubai shines light on the need for climate action by powering down and offering sustainable foods.

Earth Hour 2017 takes place on Saturday, 25 March 2017 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm local time. From governments to communities and individuals, the hotel will join millions around the world in coming together to make a difference for climate change. Located at the crossroads of Dubai, the hotel will activate a range of energy saving measures including turning off lights in the façade and public spaces, while the lobby, dining venues, and rooftop pool will be lit up with candles.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Feast will create a unique sustainable corner offering eco-friendly and delicious foods for guests to relish. Demonstrating how ecological foods can be tasty, the hotel’s chefs have created healthy sustainable canapes that will be served at the Club Lounge, Feast and the lobby for in-house guests.

Established by World Wide Fund (WWF), Earth Hour 2017 marks the 11th anniversary of the worldwide movement for the environment. Over 178 countries and 12,700 landmarks and monuments, including the emblematic Burj Khalifa, participated in the global movement in 2016. With the increase of global warming and carbon emissions, this annual milestone remains key in the ongoing challenge to preserving the planet.

As part of The Sheraton Grand Hotel, Dubai’s environmental commitment to reducing energy, several ecological measures are already put into practice to include: dimming non-essential lights in public spaces during lower occupancy, using aerators in bathroom basins to save water, utilizing LED light bulbs, motions sensors, and air conditioning sensors. The hotel has observed a 50 percent reduction in electrical consumption since the implementation of these power saving methods.

Along with its sister properties around the globe, The Sheraton Grand Hotel continues its commitment to changing beyond the hour, through such measures and more.
