TRA honors parties who have contributed to the success of hosting the international events organized by the International Telecommunication Union

the patronage of His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Qamzi, The Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) of UAE honored the various government authorities, private bodies and individuals who contributed to the success of hosting the series of international events organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) of the United Nations (UN).

During the ceremony, HE Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, Director General of TRA highlighted the prominent position occupied by UAE on the map of global communications and its role in supporting the efforts of the ITU, in order to enable everyone to benefit from the information and communications technology. He expressed his satisfaction in the role played by the TRA, since the beginning of the year, which started with the ITU World Radiocommunication Conferencethat took place in Geneva, led by Tariq Al Awadhi, Executive Director, Spectrum Affairs, TRA, and chaired by the UAE, endingwith the World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT2012), also chaired by the UAE, which concluded on 14 December.

On this occasion, His Excellency Al Ghanim thanked and appreciated all who contributed to the events, particularly, the Supreme Committee, which overlooked the events, led by His Excellency Abdul Qader Al Khayat and the Dubai World Trade Centre.He also thanked all the employees of TRA for their cooperation and unlimited support and The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf andDirector General Mahmoud Sayyar for his continued support towards theUAE team.

His Excellency Al Ghanim honoured the Supreme Committee, Dubai World Trade Centre, and employees of TRA withcertificates of appreciationand shields.

UAE has been hosting a set of international eventsthat were highly prominent on the agenda of ITU; The World Telecommunication Exhibition 2012, World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly, Global Standards Symposium(GSS12) and World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT12).

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was established according to the UAE Federal Law by Decree No. 3 of 2003 – Telecom Law, on regulating the telecommunications sector in the UAE. Since its establishment, the TRA has exceeded expectations by achieving its projected goals in record time.

The role of TRA focuses on two fields: regulating the telecommunications sector, and enabling government entities in the field of smart transformation.
