The University of Dubai (UD) brought former students together in December for a networking evening at the Dubai Chamber. The “Dinner-Meet” organized by the University of Dubai Alumni Association (UDAA), began with an address from UD President Dr. Eesa Bastaki about the latest developments at the university.

Dr. Bastaki said: “I’m truly grateful to see our alumni. We still communicate with our alumni who contact us till now and play a major role in supporting the university for achieving its objectives. I truly welcome you here today. This gathering proves that we look mainly at delivering premium educational quality more than anything else. You are the family of the university and our ambassadors, we are actually proud that you are here and giving us your comments, your inputs, and your participation in all senses to make this university a better educational institution. And, I can see you are really serious in this thing and for us we thank you all very much.”

Alumni attending the “Dinner-Meet” also heard from Mohammed Shael Al Saadi, UDAA board of directors member and CEO of Business Registration and Licensing section in the Department for Economic Development in Dubai, who led a discussion to identify the main challenges facing graduates and to find potential solutions and areas for cooperation.

Al Saadi said: “Since 2007, we have worked hard, as UD Alumni Association in collaboration with The Student and Alumni Affairs (SAA) of the University of Dubai, to support and help the University of Dubai to raise its name in the market. Our efforts in the association go towards increasing the value of the university’s brand. UDAA with the support of the SAA came up with number of initiatives such as mentoring program, job shadowing, guest speakers and scholarships for undergraduate students. UDAA board members are talented and well positioned in their organizations. They are always ready to lend a helping hand to the university.”

He added: “I really feel happy to see the president of the University of Dubai engaging with current students and alumni of the university in their activities. This shows his kind support to push all of us to give effort for the university. We appreciate this very much and we ask for more engagements to enhance the bond between the students, alumni, faculty and the whole society.”

Amina El Marzak, SAA department manager at the University of Dubai, commented: “It was always exciting and pride worthy to work closely with a highly enthusiastic and devoted UDAA board of directors led by Sheikh Mohammed Juma Al Maktoum who showed exemplary keenness and dedication to support the university and its students. In a few years, we established a strongly connected alumni association and made great achievements creating meaningful and beneficial programs for alumni and students which most of it was introduced for first time in the UAE and MENA region. I sincerely thank all our alumni ambassadors who are supporting in achieving the association’s mission and loyally and unselfishly giving back to their alma mater, the University of Dubai, contributing to its success and growth.”

Established in May 2007, the UDAA is the official group for alumni at the University of Dubai, and is composed of graduates from every major and graduation year. Through a wide range of events and support programs, the UDAA strives to help alumni keep in touch with each other, and further their careers through networking opportunities and professional advice. Membership is free and every student of the university is automatically enrolled upon graduation.
