Wacom’s innovative Bamboo Spark device that digitizes handwritten notes and inspires creativity launches to industry acclaim
Wacom® successfully launched its new Bamboo Spark at this year’s IFA in Berlin. Bamboo Spark, a smart folio that digitizes paper notes and enables the creation and sharing of ideas, quickly became one of the headliners of this year’s IFA. Seeing the reaction of the Berlin audience, distributors and retailers, Mike Gay, Senior Vice President and head of Wacom’s Consumer Business Unit, announced he was increasing production about 50% to meet expected demand.
The new smart folio can easily be connected to cloud services, like Wacom’s Inkspace, but also to Dropbox or Evernote and it offers fast synchronisation and editing in the accompanying Bamboo Spark App. Gay: “It was great to see first hand the overwhelmingly positive reaction to Bamboo Spark at IFA. Customers from across Europe, the Americas and Asia consistently told us that Bamboo Spark was simply the best solution they had ever seen for notetaking and ideation.”
The innovative Bamboo Spark got a lot of attention from media, distributers and the general audience alike. It was also awarded with the “Envisioneering Innovation and Design Award” during ShowStoppers® at IFA 2015. “IFA 2015 has been a great global platform to launch our innovative new products,” says Jeff Mandell, Executive Vice President for the Branded Business Unit at Wacom.
”There was also big interest in the next generation of our award-winning Intuos® pen-based tablets which include everything that creative hobbyists and enthusiasts need to enhance and inspire their creative expression in the digital world. Although we are just getting started, the new Intuos line has been well received by consumers and we are capturing new accounts and seeing positive sell-through at leading retailers around the world,” says Mandell.
Wacom also used IFA to showcase the new look of its Bamboo brand and presented in an open, friendly and approachable booth that offered excellent opportunities to interact with consumers. “The Bamboo brand is all about "making ideas”, says Stefan Kirmse, Senior Vice President Corporate Brand and Communication at Wacom. “At IFA we got a lot of recognition for the brand. Our virtual graffiti wall attracted many visitors to the booth and fuelled their creativity. It also introduced them to the great potential of a future standard for digital ink: Wacom Ink Layer Language (WILL).”
The big line-up of new products and welcome reception from resellers helped the sales team to make IFA 2015 a great success. The new Intuos pen & touch tablets are on sale now. Bamboo Spark will be available shortly. For pricing and availability please check our regional websites at www.wacom.com.
