The Noor Al-Maarif school have turned to Tabreed, the National Central Cooling Company (PJSC), to supply district cooling to the school’s new premises, which is currently being constructed on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai.
Chilled water will be piped three kilometers to the new school from Tabreed's cooling facility on Sheikh Zayed Road, which currently has contracts to provide cooling to a variety of commercial and residential properties in Dubai. Noor Al-Maarif is the first school to join the network.
”Environmental issues are important to the school and when we found that district cooling reduces energy use by up to 70 percent, we knew this was good way for us to do our bit for the environment,” Fatma Al-Marri, owner of the Noor Al Maarif school said. “Tabreed also handle all maintenance of the cooling system.”
Reduced noise and better temperature control are additional benefits of the system. The Noor Al-Maarif is a private school, where 1,300 students are enrolled, from Kindergarten to High School level.
Tabreed's Sheikh Zayed Road scheme, expected to commence operations in May 2002, will cool a network of buildings in the area, including Noor Al-Maarif school, making it the first school in the UAE to be connected to a Tabreed scheme.
Tabreed is the only company in the UAE offering district cooling services as a utility and currently has approximately 100,000 refrigerating tons under contract. The long-term governmental, residential and commercial projects across the UAE include RAK, Dubai, Zayed Military City, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
