Qatar Telecom (Q-Tel) plans to establish of a multi-million dollar Internet Data Centre (IDC) in Doha, in partnership with NavLink, by mid-2004.
The agreement between Q-Tel and NavLink covers the building and operation of an IDC and the development of value added services including co-location, Internet bandwidth, back-up and restoration services and advanced managed services.
NavLink will provide consultancy services to deploy an IDC in compliance with carrier standards and will assist Q-Tel to promote the centre as well as market and sell the hosting and value added services.
The agreement is geared towards satisfying the demand for reliable and secure hosting services while providing value added services to governmental and multinational organizations.
Q-Tel and NavLink have activated a STM-1 digital connection and IP port into the AT&T network. The link, which is carried on an all-fiber network with strict alarm surveillance and monitoring, will allow Q-Tel's customers to continue enjoying high-quality and stable connectivity while paving the way for reliable and high performance IP services such as hosting services.
Q-Tel is the exclusive telecommunications provider in Qatar and is one of the largest public companies in the country with about 1,800 employees.
