Dar Al-Sharq Printing, Publishing and Distribution Company announced plans to distribute three new newspapers in the Gulf state of Qatar by January 2003, reported AFP. The publications include a new Malayalam daily Varthamanam, targeting the Indian expatriate community, and two Lebanese-published English language newspapers—the International Herald Tribune and The Daily Star. The Doha-based Dar Al-Sharq media group is the publisher of Al-Sharq, Qatar’s most widely circulated Arabic newspaper, as well as the English language newspaper The Peninsula. — (menareport.com)
