Atinera, a global provider of travel automation and management systems, has signed Qatar Airways to use its software to create and deliver reservation, inventory and distribution processes for its leisure brands Qatar Airways Holidays and Discover Qatar, according to a company press release.
Atinera will enable Qatar Airways Holidays to package a range of leisure travel elements, such as hotels, car rentals and other ground components, with core airline products and take advantage of inventory management, reservations and distribution capabilities.
"With the growth of Qatar Airways' leisure tour operations, we knew we would need a robust and scalable IT infrastructure to support it," commented Mark Senior, general manager, Qatar Airways Holidays. "There is little point given the current economic climate to go to market with an IT solution unable to adapt to changing market needs and business growth.
Qatar Airways, the international airline of the state of Qatar, currently serves a total of 29 destinations in Europe, Middle East, Africa, the Indian Sub-continent and Asia from its hub in Doha. It operates six Airbus A300-600R aircraft on long and medium-haul routes and five Airbus A320s on short-haul services.
The five new Airbus A330-200s on order start delivery in May 2002 and there is an option to take three further aircraft. Qatar Airways is also a launch customer for the newly developed ultra-large Airbus A380.
Atinera provides travel software and technology solutions for tour operators and travel suppliers worldwide. The company was formed in 2000 as a joint venture between Amadeus Global Travel Distribution and Fourth Dimension Software. The company is privately held and headquartered in San Francisco, USA, with regional headquarters in the United Kingdom and Australia. — (menareport.com)
