The Central Bank of Qatar announced that the local consumer price index closed at 109.48 points last year. This implies an average 6.8% inflation rate. The same source related this relatively high inflation to remarkably rising rent costs.

The Central Bank estimates the value of the Qatari GDP to reach QR 103 billion by the end of the current year of 2005. Qatar's GDP grew by 18.9% annually through the past five years 2000-2004.
