French Company Renault has recently started to market cars of Logan model in the Moroccan market. The new car prices are ranged between MD72,000 and MD96,000, the Moroccan newspaper Al-Sabah reported on July 19.
The company intends to produce approximately 30,000 units of this model annually, 50% of it to be marketed in the Moroccan market and the other 50% to be exported to countries which have commercial agreements with Morocco like Egypt and Tunisia.
It should be mentioned that Renault invested 30 million Euros in order to produce Logan cars in Morocco. Logan models will be produced by S.O.M.A.C.A. (Societe Marocaine de Construction Automobile), which 54% of its capital is owned by Renault, and which produces Kangoo models and markets them in 26 points of sale all over the kingdom.
It should be mentioned that Renault sold approximately 6200 cars in the Moroccan market during the first six months of the current year, 19% up compared with the equivalent period last year. At the beginning of 2005, cars of Kangoo model registered the highest sales rate in Morocco.
