The official launch of Sahara Center, a new shopping and entertainment mall project in Sharjah, has been set for February 20, 2002, the company announced. “This start date was chosen to coincide with the launch of our many fashion retailers’ spring and summer collections,” said Raymond Casey, Sahara Center general manager,.

The Sahara Center project is managed by Al-Nahda Real Estate, and is owned jointly by Abdulrahman Bukhatir and Saeed Ghobash. Being built at a cost of 400 million Emirati dirhams ($109 million) in the Al-Nahda district of Sharjah, the total built-out area of the mall will be one million square feet, making it the largest shopping mall in the emirate of Sharjah.

The company further said that, with less than four months to go before its formal opening, several key tenants have begun construction work. Debenhams, one of the UK’s leading department stores, forms part of the Al-Shaya Group, and will feature international brands including Liz Claiborne, Oasis, Evans and Laura Ashley.

Century Cinemas, which will operate the largest cinema complex in the UAE, and Adventureland, the largest indoor entertainment complex in the Middle East, are the other key anchors in the mall. — (menareport.com)
