Saudi agricultural sector needs $1.13 billion in investments

The Saudi Minister of Agriculture and Water, Abdullah Moamar, estimated the required amount of investments to sustain agricultural production in the Jazan region at eight billion Saudi Riyals ($1.13 billion), reported Al-Hayat. Addressing a symposium about agricultural investment in Jazan and Tuhama the minister revealed a plan to irrigate 2,170 square kilometers of land in Jazan. The ministry is also planning to set up two dams with a water storage capacity of 676 million cubic meters. The cost of the dams is assessed at SR 935 million. It is also planning to set up a SR 1.2 billion water drainage system. — (menareport.com)
