Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), a leading exhibition organizer in the Middle East, has announced the launch of GITEX Saudi Arabia, a premier exhibition for computing and Information Technology (IT) industry. The inaugural show is scheduled to be held in Riyadh from April 21-25.

Riyadh Exhibitions Company has been licensed by DWTC to be the organizer and promoter of GITEX Saudi Arabia. According to the agreement, the event will be held annually in Riyadh during the first half of the year.

This constitutes a significant move by DWTC in the direction of expanding the GITEX brand name throughout the Middle East. GITEX Dubai, the flagship show of DWTC, is the largest event of its kind in the Middle East. DWTC took the show to the regional markets in 1999, organizing GITEX in Cairo, Egypt and Beirut, Lebanon.

From next year, a GITEX exhibition will be added not only in the Saudi kingdom, which was identified as the biggest IT market in the Gulf region, but also in Hyderabad, India, which is recognized as a base for a highly cost-effective IT industry and skilled technical manpower.

DWTC has over 55,000 square meters of exhibition space under its management and hosts more than 70 exhibitions and events every year. More than 73,000 trade visitors from 102 countries attended GITEX Dubai 2000, while GITEX Computer Shopper, the retail arm of GITEX 2000 reported a visitor turnout exceeding 76,000. ― (MENA Report)
