The Saudi Ministry of Commerce has recently decided to suspend rice imports from the United States, reported Al-Hayat . The Ministry sent American rice samples to its quality control laboratories at the King Faisal Hospital. The Ministry wants to make sure that the rice does not contain traces of lead and that it satisfies Saudi health standards. Recently published reports in Japan indicate that American rice contains lead, which prompted the Saudis to be more thorough in testing their American imports. — (menareport.com)
