For the second week in a row, Saudi authorities continue their fight against local counterfeit spare car parts manufacturers and dealers, reported Al-Watan daily.
So far, they have apprehended several counterfeiters in Riyadh, shutting down eight of them. Five printing facilities, issuing faked brand names of spare car parts, were also raided.
The Saudi ministry of commerce, which estimated the local par car parts market at three billion Saudi royals per annum, has issued warnings to the public against purchasing counterfeit products, which may cause fatal traffic accidents.
Saudi authorities have imposed up to SR 5,000-100,000 ($1,300-$26,600) in fines, imprisonment, and other penalties on the dealers and owners of fake spare car parts in the Kingdom. ― (MENA Report)
