Senegal is in the midst of a legal wrangle with Tunisia and Russia over two ships, the BRIZ II and III. The local Senegalese press fears that this legal wrangle with two important trading partners could have adverse diplomatic ramifications and could even lead to isolation.
The ships are Tunisian but had temporary Senegalese nationality. The minister of maritime affairs of Senegal withdrew the Senegalese nationality of the Briz II and Briz III ships and their contents were said to have been offloaded. But in late October, Senegal announced it was handing the ships to Russia without discussing the matter with Tunisia. Russia refused to take the ships saying they did not belong to her.
Tunisia is taking the matter to the international maritime tribunal, according to the Tunisian and Senegalese press. (albawaba.com)
